Mikhail Youzhny withdraw from the Australian Open due to a wrist injury handing Lukasz Kubot a free ride into the fourth round. The pair were scheduled to meet in the third round but Youzhny pulled out, saying his wrist was still aching after a marathon five-set match against Richard Gasquet in the opening round. Mikhail Youzhny rallied past Daniel Brands 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the final of the BMW Open. Youzhny will play Tomas Berdych, who beat Jeremy Chardy 6-1 5-7 6-2 . Brands had only played on the challenger circuit before getting an invitation to the Munich clay-court event. Mikhail Youzhny defeated Horacio Zeballos 6-1, 7-6 to reach the second round at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. Youzhny had eight aces and converted four of nine break points. The Russian came into Moscow in strong form, having reached the final of the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships two weeks ago.
