Mildred Loving
Mildred Loving is a black woman who challenged Virginia's ban on interracial marriage. Loving v. Virginia was a landmark Supreme Court ruling, which brought down laws on interracial marriage.
Mildred Loving
Today is Loving Day. In 1963, Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving married but their marriage was illegal in their home state of Virginia. In 1967, the Supreme Court deemed that anti-miscegenation laws were unconstitutional in the landmark case Loving v. Virginia.
