Iran's police warned on Sunday of a crackdown if opposition supporters stage protests this week when the Islamic republic marks the 30th anniversary of the US embassy's seizure by radical students. Several Iranian filmmakers Thursday used the San Sebastian film festival to condemn the Tehran regime and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech at the UN General Assembly. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton refrained from comment Monday on the reelection of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but pointed to a "credibility" gap for Iran's leadership. "I'm not going to speculate on, you know, what happens with their internal regime," the top US diplomat said. TEHRAN (Reuters) - The prominent Iranian disabled reformer Saeed Hajjarian will be released on Wednesday after being held since the disputed presidential election, Iranian media reported, quoting a judiciary spokesman. Boasting an 85 percent voter turnout, Ahmadinejad was reelected to the surprise of the citizens and experts who predicted Moussavi would easily take the election.
