Wael Abbas is the primary blogger at Misr Digital (Egyptian Awareness). He reported on harassment of women, and broadcast a video of police brutality in Egypt.
Misr Digital reporting lead to the conviction of police for torture. However, his accounts with YouTube and Yahoo were both closed because of pressure from the Egyptian government. YouTube has since restored his account and most of his videos.

Egyptian blogger and human rights activist Wael Abbas was stopped at Cairo airport by security officers early on Tuesday morning as he was returning home from a conference in Sweden, sources told Menassat. Security officers temporarily confiscated Abbas' passport and then proceeded by searching his personal belongings.
