Some “Little Facts” About Sarah Palin by Melinda Donahey The American public will have less than 60 days to judge Sarah Palin’s fitness for high office, dangerous risk-taking indeed when as vice-president she would be next in line to a 72-year-old man who has had bouts with melanoma, whose father and grandfather both died younger than he is now, and who, as a former prisoner-of-war, confronts the likelihood of a shorter-than-average lifespan. Palin has been kept under extremely tight wraps since her nomination. Reporters can’t ask her questions directly, and she never appears on the campaign trail unless accompanied by John McCain or delivers ... Read Full Story

McCain's new VP pick, Sarah Palin , is being dissed by pundits who have called her "inexperienced," an "ingenue" and even "a joke." On a Washington Post thread a sexist lurker even called her "a breeder." This is a tad harsh. Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla - a town with 9,000 inhabitants. That's a lot of people. She had to preside over council meetings and wave at the folk on ceremonial occasions when she rode the moose float down the main street. You can't underestimate the pressure involved in juggling all those demands. Wasilla city hall - Sarah the barricuda's former seat of ... Read Full Story

Who is Sarah Palin anyway? Before Senator John McCain introduced her to the world little was known about the current governor of Alaska. Her nomination for Vice President is a huge step in the right direction for women. She is the second woman ever to be on the Presidential ticket of a major party candidate. Having a woman for the Vice President ads more flavor, spark and excitement to this years election. Here is a little information on Sarah Palin. She was born Sarah Louise Heath in Sandpoint, Idaho, the third of four children of Sarah Heath ( née Sheeran), a school secretary, and ... Read Full Story

Rape is a horrible ordeal. Could you imagine, after living through that trauma and then reporting it to your local police station and sitting for a rape kit… the disgust you’d feel after having been charged a fee in order for the rape kit to be processed? Well, that was the case, in Wasilla, Alaska, when Sarah Palin was its mayor. Recently in the New York Times , Dorothy Samuels wrote about this not-so-widely known fact about Palin, who is now the governor of Alaska and the Republican vice presidential nominee. You can read that article, below. Seriously, if this is John McCain’s idea ... Read Full Story

WASILLA, Alaska, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifelong learning advocate and longtime resident of Wasilla, Alaska, Charles D. Hayes wants the world to know that not all Wasilla residents are Sarah Palin fans. Author of numerous books upholding the value of self-education, Hayes says many of us are embarrassed by former Governor Palin's vacuous chatter about subjects she clearly has no knowledge of. In his view, an American life, the subtitle of...

It’s no secret that as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin practiced real (as opposed to rhetorical) socialism. While accusing Barack Obama of running to be “redistributionist in chief” during last year’s campaign, John McCain conveniently overlooked the fact his running mate was the most redistributionist governor in the nation. As Alaskan Elstun Lauesen wrote in The [...]

Two new books about Sarah Palin—Sarah from Alaska and The Persecution of Sarah Palin—attempt to explain why the hockey mom from Wasilla, Alaska, drives both detractors and fans alike to something approaching insanity.
