Of American defense shield and Heavy Metal

I’ve stumbled upon this article today (it’s in Polish, but here’s a similar in English) on continuing talks between Polish and US governments about locating American missile defense shield in Poland. It evolves about Stephen Mull’s statement that Poland would have to finance most of the defense modernization it is seeking from the Bush administration in exchange for deploying part of a missile defense shield. I admit, I’ve always felt an averse toward the whole idea. And reading that I wondered what does Bush administration really expect of us? That we’ll allow placing their shield system in Poland in exchange for what? A handshake?

From my point of view someone should say: “Fine, you don’t want to help us in modernization of Polish army, we don’t want your missile interceptors in Poland”. I bet that majority of Poles would really like that to happen.

Oh, and by the way: I’m Heavy Metal but I’m not violent! I’ve been listening to Heavy Metal since I’ve been around 7 years old; I’ve grown up on bands like Iron Maiden; I’ve been to various concerts, ranging from general Pop music through Grindcore and Black Metal. As surprisingly as it may sound, the black clothed Heavy Metal people are not the ones I’m most walking at night. Heck, most of Heavy Metal people I know don’t even wear black all the time, they look as normal as you.
