Misty May Treanor is one of the best American beach volleyball players. She's from Santa Monica, California and graduated from California State University Long Beach. She was Athlete of the Year in 1998, and was All American First Team in beach volleyball. In 2003, Misty May and Kerri Walsh were named "AVP Team of the Year" with a record of 39-0. May had a 5th place finish in the the 2000 Summer Olympics with teammate Holly McPeak and a gold medal in the 2004 olypics with teammate Kerri Walsh. May-Treanor is also a coach at Irvine Valley College. She is married to Matt Treanor of the Florida Marlins.

Olympic champion and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Misty May-Trainer had surgery to repair a torn Achilles’ tendon today. Misty injured herself while rehearsing on Friday for the show.
“I was like, ‘OK, I’m an athlete. Tape it up and get back out there,’” she said in a release issued by USA Volleyball. “I never thought in a million years, especially in ballroom, that I would hurt myself.”

Misty May-Treanor underwent surgery Tuesday to repair her torn Achilles tendon.
According to her rep, the surgery was a success and she’s home recovering and getting nursed back to health by husband Matt Treanor, catcher for the Florida Marlins (ironically, the two met in 2003 at a sports therapy facility in California. Guess they’ll have a chance to rekindle that flame).
