Scary dragons calendars 2010 by Ed Beard Jr., Ciruelo Cabral

Dragon 2010 Wall Calendar Dragons are among the most scary fantasy creatures featuring fantasy art calendars these days. Dragons generally have wings, but otherwise look more like reptiles or snakes. In some ways they look like dinosaurs, excepting that no actual creature, extinct or not,  has been known to breath fire as dragons are said to do. The fantasy art calendars I’ve found for you all feature dragons painted to combine their size and beauty. Dragon 2010 Wall Calendar $13.95... Read Full Story

Unicorn calendars 2010

Susan Seddon Boulet Unicorns 2010 Wall Calendar Unicorns are, as J.K. Rowling knew very well, symbols of purity. These illusive magical creatures were seen as rare, but real during the Middle Ages in Europe. The last Unicorn was spotted in the 17th century. The ability to catch a unicorn was thought to belong only to pure hearted virgins. These fantasy art calendars feature unicorns painted by various artists. Susan Boulet and Gina Befera are but two of the artists who have chosen to... Read Full Story

I Love Seeing Red

I love the bumper sticker; "All Who Wander Are Not Lost", when I see it on passing cars I always smile. I too, am one who loves getting lost. Actually I never say I am lost I say that I am on an adventure. Anyone can drive 15 minutes from point A to point B, only a true adventurer can go from point A on to a three hour adventure perhaps arriving at point B perhaps not. In my opinion nothing is more boring than going to the same place over and over again on the same predictable route. For... Read Full Story

Chocolate makes everything better. Even school events.

Ugh, school events. Can't stand them. I'd even go as far as saying I despise them. Maybe I wouldn't if I liked the school more, but considering it's full of stuck up obnoxious snobs and their spoiled offspring, there's a small chance of that. And that's the least of my problems with this school. As far as the school is concerned, I actually can't wait to go back to Switzerland. But let's get back to the task at hand: school event today, yearly Christmas Bazaar - yes, not Holiday Bazaar... Read Full Story

Let's talk about Barbie

In the immense universe of toys that have been produced since the beginning of time there's one doll that has aged gracefully: Barbie. There is always some kind of controversy about Barbie : it used to be that her outfits were too outrageous, then it was that the pregnant Barbie gave a wrong idea of how babies are really born; now the main controversy is that Barbie, according to many, promotes an unhealthy body image. True, she may not be anatomically correct, but people, she is a doll. And... Read Full Story

framing our family

talk about pretty pictures. zoe from photography by zoe took these of our family at a local historic park. i wanted casual, urban, you know, dirty-pretty. leo carrillo ranch had the weathered architecture, the bold colors, the complex textures, the feel i love. the location mimics my everyday life in many ways: surprisingly finding perfection in imperfection. beauty in the overlooked. the charlie brown tree. and did i mention peacocks? she and i talked a lot about layering the shots: jackets... Dangerous squeals

Stella has a really high-pitch little voice. You can tell because she has recently begun to utilize the ultrasound feature quite often. She now squeals when she is happy or having fun, and instead chooses to go for high-pitch screams when she is mad. And while I am becoming immune to this not-so-charming habit (possibly because by now I've gone half deaf), other people still find it... well, annoying is kind of a euphemism. An example: yesterday we were at Starbucks. We go to this Starbucks... Read Full Story

Nonsequitur (or just random, if you prefer)

Boy, was I crabby yesterday. Not totally over it, gotta say. Hey, it happens. Today of course the flu came back, and of course despite it being Sunday I couldn't stay home and sleep it off, instead I went to run some errands in the morning and then to a birthday party in the afternoon. It was lovely. Except for the screaming children and the annoying music. The cake did make it much more bearable, though. I tell you, chocolate cake cures all ills (especially the bad mood variety...
