After taking the Internet world by storm yesterday , the Montauk Monster has quietly disappeared. Maybe it was taken back into the ocean during high tide, maybe animal control picked it up, or maybe, some crusty old guy came buy, picked it up, and announced to all who cared to listen, "I'm going to mount it on my wall." And... it seems the last option may win. According to New York Magazine, beach onlookers originally said a woman continued to call Animal Control, but it's reported they... Read Full Story
Photo via Montauk-Monster.com . The Montauk Monster is the biggest viral of the year. Whether it is actual viral marketing for the X Files movie or kids TV show Crytids Are Real or just some weird natural event, people are fascinated by the Montauk Monster. The story of the Montauk Monster is a great example of how a local news story can quickly become a global phenomenon as the story is virally spread across the internet by both news and social media sites. Originally the finding of the... Read Full Story
With Parliamentary recesses and business holidays, August is traditionally a quiet time for news and is reknowned for being ‘silly season’ (where odd stories make the headlines.) This year has been no exception with two monster stories in the news. Firstly there was the 'Satan hellbeast' Montauk Monster that washed ashore in the Hamptons and then last week the capture of Bigfoot hit the headlines - however, the interesting thing is how the internet now catapults these stories into global... It seems like just yesterday that the web was going crazy over the Montauk Monster . Actually it was December of last year . That’s when Animal Planet did a story on the beast.
The beast is back. This time, there is a video to back it up.
The following has been posted at Montauk-Monster.com :
On Wednesday May 5th 2009, I was contacted by a couple that sent a message to the general e-mail box on this website claiming they think they’ve found what appears to be the Montauk... Read Full Story
Days ago an unknown creature washed up onto the Montauk NY shore, and has been the buzz of the internet since. Earthling mammal or Alien? Pig, dog, turtle? To me it looks like a mangy old bloated dog. But there has been speculation that it is some kind of unknown sea creature. And thats not the end of the story. Are there more of these "things" out there ? Cryptomundo cites eyewitness reports that there are: Joann Dileardo saw it at the end of Roe Avenue in Patchogue, a few weeks ago. “I... Read Full Story
NEWS OF THE WEIRD
This is what is swimming in the water at the Hamptons!
I'm not sure whether to believe that this creature actually exists, but it has been tagged the "Montauk monster."
Gawker first posted the photo on Tuesday saying they assume it was a phony since it came from Alanna Navitski who works for a viral-marketing firm.
Navitski, however, says the monster of Montauk is real. She got the photo from a friend of her sister's who actually saw the monster in real life... Read Full Story
I know, here I go again with this Montauk Monster thing. Not otaku related but I live in eastern Long Island so its big news here. The picture above I only found through some semi-deep searching online of it. Most of the pictures shown are of the two I'll post below. The 1st picture that's on my previous post is the most popular but this one is barley seen and it links the two pictures mainly circulated around. This is because in this picture you can see the red part of it on the upper right... Read Full Story
Last week, I told you about a monster that seems to have washed ashore in the Hamptons that has been tagged as the Montauk Monster. Here's another picture from a different angle:
Now, the folks over at Wired Science claim the monster is a pit bull, a dogfighting washout who washed up a Long Island beach.
The Monster now looks rather less mysterious, though no less monstrous; its body, no longer swollen, is proportional to expectation, and its "beak" is revealed as nostrils bared... Read Full Story
Last July, a couple found the carcass of a strange beast washed up on New York’s coastline. The creature resembled no animal we know of and was immediately labeled The Montauk Beast, Montauk being the place it was discovered.
Now, photos have been released of a second strange creature which could be another Montauk Beast, It was found in roughly the same area but looks slightly different. The couple who found it bagged it and have it on ice for, well, who knows what reason.
There... Read Full Story
