Brian Gionta took advantage of a timely carom 2:42 into overtime, when he tapped in an errant shot to secure the Montreal Canadiens' 2-1 win over the Sabres and spoil Buffalo's season opener on Saturday night. Travis Moen also scored for the Canadiens who have opened the season with consecutive overtime victories, following a 4-3 win at Toronto on Thursday. MONTREAL (Reuters) - The Montreal Canadiens acquired Scott Gomez, and his sizeable contract, from the New York Rangers in a seven-player trade on Tuesday. With the free-agent signing window opening on Wednesday, Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey got an early jump on the competition landing the play-making center he had been seeking. Gomez will earn $8 million next season. The Canadiens also received forward Tom Pyatt and defenseman Michael Busto from New York while sending forward Christopher Higgins and defensemen Ryan McDonagh, Pavel Valentenko and Doug Janik to the Rangers. It was another Over Time game and another OT win for the Habs.  Okay, guys you can stop now.  You've made us believers.  We believe that you can win in OT.  Now how about winning a few games in regulation time.
