I literally StumbleUpon'd The Political Compass , a website that looks to go beyond the traditional left-right political division. They offer a test that breaks down where you stand and compares you to current and past world leaders. (My results are below) "If we recognise that this is essentially an economic line it's fine, as far as it goes. We can show, for example, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Pol Pot, with their commitment to a totally controlled economy, on the hard left. Socialists like... Read Full Story
Record turnout in both Iowa and New Hampshire proves that the battle cry of the democratic candidates (and a few of the Republicans) is true – Americans want change. Regardless of age, political affiliation, their sex, race, their economic background we are all dissatisfied with the present and worried about our future. This collective discontent can go one of two waves: Tear us apart and cripple (if not destroy) our country or it can unite and rejuvenate us. The deciding factor of which path... Read Full Story
How would you like a job that didn’t require you to have a high degree of accuracy, and not be held accountable for wrong decisions or opinions? A job where expressing a point of view or an opinion based more on conforming to a certain form takes precedence over fact-based observations and accuracy of predictions? Think of it: you wouldn’t have to be burdened by the same tiresome, worrisome standards as the rest of the world, namely, that failure to adequately predict what is going to happen... Read Full Story
So I watched Thursday nights broadcast of the RNC via MSNBC and was dumbfounded by perhaps the most abject televised display of vanity and self obsession when Keith Olbermann interrupted the analytical/broadcast proceedings to confess his own "apologies" for the RNC's audacious video that dared revisit the tragedy, in "graphic" fashion mind you, of 9/11. If at this late date, any television network had, of its own accord, shown that much video tape and that much graphic video tape of 9/11... Read Full Story
Along with disco music, bushy sideburns, angry ayatollahs and other things we'd just as soon forget, the 1970s brought us a new word: stagflation. Stagflation describes a miserable combination of economic stagnation and inflation. Now, thanks to some scary headlines in the financial press, the word is making a comeback. Consumer prices jumped 4.1 percent last year, the biggest jump in 16 years. The economy began wheezing and sputtering. Gross domestic product grew at a barely-visible 0.6... Read Full Story
Robert A. McKee, a long-serving Republican delegate from Western Maryland, announced his resignation yesterday after authorities, who say they are conducting a child pornography investigation, seized two computers, videotapes and printed materials from his Hagerstown home. First elected to the House of Delegates in 1994, McKee was chairman of the Western Maryland delegation and sponsored legislation to protect minors from sexual predators. McKee, 58, also resigned yesterday from his post as... Read Full Story
Last night continued the unseemly spectacle that is MSNBC political coverage. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann continued to be cheerleaders for Democrats, especially Barack Obama.
Chris Matthews made his usual over-the-top statements followed by his donkey laugh. Matthews actually went to far as to say that Obama’s speech created a “thrill” in his leg, then called his getting that “thrill” an “objective assessment.”
Keith Olbermann meanwhile has all but given up even trying to mask... Read Full Story
That’s Politically Correct, not Personal Computer.
Now that I have cleared that up, I want to get into a scary (and über controversial) social phenomenon that is sweeping our culture and society right now. I guess you can rack this one up to culture instead of politics again, as honestly I am burnt to a crisp on politics right now.
So let’s look at homosexuals. Yes, the “dreaded” gays *gasp!*…
Disclaimer alert:
Ok, first and foremost, let’s get one thing straight (no pun intended). I... Read Full Story
It would seem that at least some Democrats are honest about their dishonesty, which in a way is something of a breath of fresh air. I know I have been railing on the SCHIP legislation a whole lot lately, but given the fact that it is coming up for vote in the House to try to overturn the President’s veto on the 17th and the fact that I am am sick and tired of the Dems and the RINOs using children as cover for their political pandering, I just can’t quite leave well enough alone quite yet... I was originally going to make this a singular topic addressing the lies from the left regarding the state of the economy and the federal deficit. After all, the report released this past week reveals that the deficit is at its lowest point in five years. In fact, the deficit was at just 1.2% of GDP which is lower than the average of the last 40 years. Of course, if you ask any liberal Democrat out there, they will tell you how Bush has destroyed the economy and driven the deficit to nearly... Read Full Story
