JERUSALEM, March 2 (Reuters) - Israel's Justice Ministry said it has evidence that outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert kept more than $350,000 in a secret fund and did favours for a U.S. businessman who handed him cash-filled envelopes. The allegations were contained in a statement issued by the ministry on Sunday in which Attorney-General Menachem Mazuz said he was considering indicting Olmert on charges of fraud, breach of trust and fraudulent receipt of monies. Olmert, who resigned in the corruption scandal in September but is staying on until a new government is formed following a Feb. 10 election, has denied any wrongdoing. His spokesman ... Israeli police decided on Thursday to close one of several investigations into suspicions of corruption involving outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who already faces two graft indictments. Investigators have failed to find significant evidence "that illegal acts were carried out on behalf of Ehud Olmert and closed the case," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. The so-called Cremieux Street case involved Olmert's purchase below market price of a Jerusalem apartment allegedly in exchange for political favours at a time when he was mayor of the city. Olmert is still under police investigation over suspicions of unlawful appointments he allegedly made while he was trade and industry ... Read Full Story

Israeli police recommended on Thursday that outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert be indicted on yet another graft case after authorities had announced plans to press charges over two other scandals. The recommendation does not bind the attorney general and state prosecutor, who will decide in the coming months whether to indict Olmert, a judicial source said. The claim dates back to the time when Olmert was trade ... Read Full Story
