Mortal Kombat Armageddon

The PlayStation 2 version was released in stores on October 11, 2006 while the Xbox version was released on the 16th, with a Wii version announced for early 2007. There are no plans to release an Xbox version in PAL territories. It is also the final Mortal Kombat game on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and the first on the Wii.

Fatalities Intact for Mortal Kombat vs DC

Mortal Kombat vs DC producer Ed Boon wants to allay any fears that the upcoming fighter-meets-comic-book mashup will abandon the MK series' trademark fatalities.

"All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities," Boon told Gamespot.

"The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent," Boon added, presumably referring to Batman and other confusingly noble crime fighters.

Boon's words come as relief to fans who feared that the upcoming game's Teen rating would spell the end for ultra bloody fatalities -- the very gimmick that earned the Mortal Kombat series enough cred to approach DC Comics with this wacky mashup concept.
