Bjork, "Who Is It"
Icelandic superstar Bjork has never been one to shy away from unconvential style statements (her Marjan Pejoski "swan dress" has etched itself into public memory for all time). For this video, she wore a gorgeous Alexander McQueen bell-shaped dress, which was particularly evocative against the backdrop of this chime-heavy song.

Cate Blanchett later wore a toned-down version of the dress to a movie premiere.


Santigold, "Lights Out"
Philadelphia-born artist Santigold has an eclectic, fearless personal sense of style that shines through in her music videos. She's a fan of huge hoop earrings, asymmetrical hairstyles (a la Karen O), and garish prints that would make M.I.A. proud. She also posed in a leopard print jumpsuit years before Kanye West's girlfriend tried to rock one at the 2009 VMAs.

MGMT, "Electric Feel"
Has hipster fashion ever been so artfully chronicled? These drug-addled jungle pirates look as if they're straight out of Williamsburg.

Basement Jaxx, "Raindrops"
Basement Jaxx's video for their 2009 hit "Raindrops" is full of body paint, feathered-headresses, stiletto heels, and mesh body stockings. In short, it looks like something that could have been shot during a particularly daring couture week. What's more: it's about a hundred times more visually arresting than any Lady Gaga video.

Christina Aguilera, "Fighter"
Christina Aguilera may have hired Roberto Cavalli to outfit her in a series of itty bitty retro costumes on her last tour, but she's never looked quite so fierce as she did in her crinkly black kimono in her Floria Sigismondi-directed video for "Fighter."
