My First Ducati

When I was 17 years old I bought my first Ducati; a brand new ice blue Ducati 900 SS Darmah. I had just passed my test (back in those days you just had to ride at walking speed following an old guy with a lantern - only kidding!). I’ve managed to find a picture of this model, not mine unfortunately as digital cameras weren’t quite there yet.

The bike was a beauty, not powerful by today’s standards, but she had straight through Conti exhausts and made a fantastic sound. She was also ‘booted’ in Marchessini magnesium gold alloy wheels and handled like a dream. She had acres of torque and, for her generation, was fairly fast … about 130mph (or so I’m told … honest officer!)

I have ridden many bikes since, including a number of classic n modern Ducatis but … it’s true what they say … you alway remember your first.
