Bloomberg is reporting that the Motorola Droid didn’t do too badly during its launching weekend. The “iPhone killer” with Android 2.0 OS and real GPS and turn-by-turn voice navigation may have sold as many as 100,000 units. That’s only a tenth of the iPhone sales two years ago when the first-gen Apple phone came out, but, hey, the economy is still bad and people are saving up for Christmas. In fact, the Droid is not a smartphone at all. It’s a robot phone . Because a robot “is a thing that does.” Need a hole punched through a steel wall? Need a rock crushed? The Droid, apparently, does that. In the new ad released today, the iPhone is portrayed as the “semi-functional, ... Read Full Story

After much anticipation and buzz over it being the next "iPhone Killer," Verizon officially launched its Motorola Droid in the US on Friday. The Droid, Motorola's most anticipated cellphone since the launch of the Razr in 2004, hit shelves at 2,000 Verizon Wireless stores around the nation today.
