Director: Michael Stanley Writer: Robert A. Hutton Starring: Robert Nolfi Julia Rust Robert Lengyel Lisa Pak IMDB: click here If you're old enough to remember the mid-1980s, you may recall the curious and short-lived cinematic fad for mini-monster movies - you know, films about foot-tall furry/leathery/plastic things with teeth leaping out at inopportune moments and biting/stabbing/eating people. Even if you weren't there, you will almost certainly know some of the films that arose from the trend - Gremlins (the movie that kicked it all off), Child's Play, Critters and it's sequels, the Ghoulies franchise, and all the way down to the very bottom of ... Director: Darren Aranofsky, 2006. The Fountain is a visually stunning but ambiguous, even sometimes confusing, fantasy that brings to mind comparisons to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi dazzler 2001: A Space Odyssey . Both deal with deep issues of human life. Both span centuries. Both are focused on a few individuals. Both are visionary and futuristic. Both feel risky and experimental. Facing the fireplace stood a high-backed Chippendale wing chair with exquisite cabriole legs. The chair was upholstered in the same deep ... Read Full Story

Generally, I am not inclined to take in big budget full-length animated features. After three invites to attend a preview of Beowulf over the past few weeks, I finally succumbed. Essentially, the story is a mythical tale about a King and his subjects in a far-away land, plagued by a monster that terrorizes their quaint mountain village. Then, Beowulf sails into harbor all brawn and guts to purge the tiny Kingdom of the menace because it is his want to do so. After the beast is destroyed, the mother - a seductress with great mystical powers - tempts the mighty hero with ... Read Full Story

When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims- religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there's an INVISIBLE MAN...LIVING IN THE SKY...who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke ... Read Full Story
