I normally don’t review multiple bands from the same record label but when I stopped by the Small Stone Recordings website , I was side tracked for a few hours and ended up burning up about thirty bucks on downloads, so I figured why the hell not . Here’s a word or two about a label and a few of the bands that you should check out. The Label Based out of Detroit, Small Stone - for the most part - represent bands that are of the stoner rock ilk, but, they aren’t afraid to mix it up - one of my favorite finds, ... Read Full Story

Ahhhh The Automatic. Forever sent to indie pops dustbin by default, loosing credibility when they went all ‘rock’n’roll’ at GMTV and loosing the keyboardist. Y’know, the one everyone loved. Or were they? See the Automatic may not be cool, lovable or (until this album gets around a bit) credible but when they gained Paul Mullen, him of yourcodenameis:milo fame, they might of just gained the kind of rocking guy which they’ve always been searching for. This should be worse, a lot worse. It sounds good to the ear with the little devil sat next to it, just pushing you to except Feeder and all their dad rock, kid pleasing millions selling records. There is something about them but I don’t know what it is. Normally a band which sings the lines “I fell into water/the water was deep” would be put in my bin. Feeder have never lost their energy or song structure. Never recreating it but always making it sound fresh and invigorating. For me, it beats ‘Buck Rogers’ – and that will probably send most people questioning ... Read Full Story

In true Does It Offend You, Yeah? style, Dawn Of The Dead is a music lovers dream. Synth-y, upbeat and is that a steel drum I hear? I think so! Once the beat kicks in you become fully aware that you are about to experience the best three and a half minutes of the day. This song could be Feeder if they gained a keyboard player – remember what a perfect summer anthem Seven Days In The Sun is, Dawn Of The Dead has that same feeling. There is the potential for this to be absolutely cracking live… enough potential for me to rethink ... Read Full Story

« You Can Never Have Too Many Hangover Tips | Home | Get New Paul McCartney Album “Memory Almost Full” for Free » By Corey Koehler | July 12, 2007 I was immediately smitten with the smooth and throaty acoustic riff on the song “I Found Out.” You just can’t help but feel better while listening to this song and you’ll love the upbeat finish. As great as “I Found Out” is, it was only the beginning. Every song delivers. He makes a startling announcement in the next song song “Son of God” and we all can relate to the feelings expressed on “Breakdown.” ... Read Full Story
