I just stumbled upon this article over at Japanator regarding a new animated film which is to be released in Japan on November 21st. Now if you were to look at the picture above you would be hard pressed to think of anything else but Studio Ghibli. The famed animation studio which has bought the creations of Hayao Miyazaki to the world is possibly the greatest feature film animation studio in the world at this very moment. Thing is, that picture ain't from Ghibli.

I dug up our DVD of My Neighbor Totoro and the plan is to watch it tonight. (If you don't know this one, you've probably heard of some of Hayao Miyazaki's other great animated films: Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke).

Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5th 1941 and showed interest in animation when he saw the film Hakujaden . in 1965, he applied for a job at TOEI Animation and worked as an in-between artist on the anime Watchdog bow wow (Wanwan Chushingura). Wind up Totoro It stands about three inches tall and is made of plastic. It looks somewhat like an old tin toy in style, but it isn’t. The umbrella is removable, although there is no real reason to take it out. Being an official Studio Ghibli product, the quality is excellent and looks just like Totoro.
