How cool is this? On Mythbusters, the guys are going to test the Captain Kirk Gorn Cannon. If you have no idea what that is, you -- my Star Trek friend -- are not a Trekkie (or a Trekker depending on which camp you follow). If you do know, you have to watch, and if you don't know but are curious, you still have to watch Mythbusters on Discovery, Monday, December 28 at 9 p.m.
Basically, the Mythbusters will take a great scene from Star Trek...

A number of weeks ago I posted an article debunking some common myths, mostly about the Broncos but the NFL in general as well. For example, debunking the myth that Kyle Orton is noodle armed or that Josh McDaniels is a Belichek clone. I feel it is now time for a second installment of common myths that you might hear that simply aren't true.

Have I not made it clear how much I like the MythBusters? Also, I am totally aware that they are not (nor do they claim to be) scientists. Really, this is what makes their show appealing (maybe?). So here is the problem now. And, it is not just the MythBusters - I see other shows making the same mistake.

Mythbusters make us smile - click above to watch the video
This one is good. Previously Adam and Jamie smashed a car to smithereens between two semi trucks. Which was fun, but hardly fun enough. So, they get a two-stage rocket sled and ram it into some poor, defenseless Ford Aspire -- at 650 mph! As gets pointed out in the video, the word "awesome" is thrown around all too easily these days. That said, this is...

Maybe you have noticed how much material there was (for me at least) in last week's MythBusters. One of the myths they looked at was the bus jumping over a gap in the road from the movie Speed. I am not looking at that myth, it has been discussed many times in many places. Rather, I am going to talk about scaling the motion. As typical with the MythBusters, they like to make a scaled down version of the event. It's cheaper that way. In...

Why aren't cars dimpled like golf balls if it increases fuel efficiency?
In the most recent episode of Mythbusters, in testing the "a dirty car gets better mileage" myth, they seem to have proven that a car which has been dimpled like a golf ball gets better mileage than a car of the same weight and general shape without dimples. I'm aware of why other aerodynamic surfaces like airplane wings aren't dimpled, but with this empirical evidence...
