Coke Zero Winners
Kyle Bush made since the beginning of the race mishap Saturday to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup series Coke Zero 400 at the International Daytona Speedway.
Bush has dropped to 37th on lap 82 with the steering wheel issues, but the fight back to win his sixth race season. Racing ended in the final stage of green-white-and-shashechkami finish with Busch inch ahead of Carl Edwards when the caution flew, freezing the field.
Bush and Edwards had to wait several minutes as NASCAR revised its assessment data to determine who was out on the front time caution.
The victory gave Bush some measure of satisfaction after he finished second in this race the last two years.
"I can not believe we are here," said Bush in victory Lane. "We did not have the best car but we just never gave up."
He did not appear Busch will have a chance to win when Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin to use it only during the 80 circles in, causing № 18 Toyota move down to apron with shaky steering wheel.
But Bush was able to rebound to take lead from Jeff Gordon with four rounds remaining. He then led the field during a green-white-green shashechkami finish which was delivered seven cars, who are going to derail the two-time reigning series champion Jimmie Johnson.
During the final rounds, Matt Kenseth, seemed to push Busch, and not Roush Racing Fenway teammate Edwards.
"I tried to click on Carl, but I could not square it," said Kenseth, who finished third. "He was just crazy at the end. I tried to get to Carl, but I almost wreckage me and Kyle."
He was the third time Edwards finished second-Busch this season, including runner activities ends at Darlington and Dover.
"I just drove as hard as I could," said Edwards. "I just hate losing. Congratulations to Kyle. I did everything I could."
With win, Busch lead over his position to 182 points over Dale Earnhardt Jr., who moved up to second after the end of the eighth.
Jeff Burton, who joined in the second race, finished 37th after wrecking twice and slipped to third, 202 points behind Busch. Burton was the first of finishing top-15 this season.
Kurt Bush was fourth in a Dodge, followed by Roush Fenway driver David Ragan.
Clint Bowyer, Robby Gordon, Earnhardt, Brian Vickers and Mark Martin rounded in the top-10.
Tony Stewart was replaced Driver Assistance J.J. Yeley 72 quarters after suffering from flu-like symptoms. Yeley brought № 20 Toyota 22nd home.
