Florida QB Tim Tebow plays receiver before SEC Championship

This very interesting and just posted YouTube video features Florida Quarterback Tim Tebow playing receiver and some cornerback in a practice before Saturday's SEC Championship game against Alabama. Is it possible we will see a trick play from the spread option involving a throw to Tim Tebow? Well, it's possible; take a look at this double pass play from The Spread: It features the quarterback (QB) throwing to the running back  (R), who then throws back to the quarterback... Eye Black Messages and Christian Privilege

A recurring theme in the blogosphere is the idea that Tim Tebow is the beneficiary of " Christian Privilege " because he is "allowed" to wear bible verses on his eye black. The basic arguments are would he, or another player, be allowed to have "Allahu akbar" in Arabic on his eye black? Another argument is that he plays for a state funded university, and the wearing of Bible verses is some how against separation of church and state. The final argument is that Tebow is rewarded for wearing... Read Full Story

Charlie Weis and Tim Tebow: A contrast in circumstance

From:  sportschump.net
December 1st, 2009 by Chris Humpherys I don’t know Charlie Weis. I’ve never met the guy and likely never will. All I know of Coach Weis is what I’ve seen on television or heard in interviews, but he seems like a nice enough guy. I’ve never had any allegiance to either him or Notre Dame, the school that just fired him. In fact, aside from Jerome Bettis running roughshod over the Gators in the 1992 Sugar Bowl, and my buddy Rocket Dan finding their mascot, the “Fightin’ Irish,” wholly... Read Full Story

Florida's Meyer: Notre Dame not a coaching option

From:  ap.org
Standing behind the same podium where quarterback Tim Tebow delivered his now-famous promise 14 months and 21 wins ago, coach Urban Meyer vowed Monday to be at Florida "as long as they'll have me." With rumors swirling about Charlie Weis' future at Notre Dame, Meyer squashed any potential speculation about leaving Gainesville for South Bend, Ind. "I'm ready to dispel it," Meyer said. "I'm going to be the coach at Florida as long as they'll have me. So I want to make that clear." Meyer was an... Read Full Story

BCS at-large bids up for grabs in final weeks

From:  ap.org
Iowa and Penn State ended their seasons eligible for an at-large BCS bid, and Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech are also in position to be eligible for invites to the four big-money bowl games even though they have no shot to win their conferences. The top seven teams in the Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday were unchanged from last week, with Florida, Alabama and Texas still in control of the national championship race. Barring any major upsets over the next two weeks, the... Read Full Story

Quick Hits For November 30; Stop Tailing Tiger, And Other Assorted Rants and Raves

Once again I'm (a) too lazy or (b) too brain locked to spend a lot of time writing something coherent and substantive, so I'm going to resort to my old fallback, QUICK HITS. DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!!! (1). Tiger Woods - Too bad about the accident. And I really don't give a damn about the other stuff; was it a domestic dispute, why he won't talk to the cops, was he fooling around with a female diversion in New York. I don't care. Talk about the "silly season", as a certain college football head... Read Full Story

12 Hours Later (Plus)..... Rutgers Football, The Big East, More Thanksgiving Leftovers, and Some Bowl Projections

This is part of my on going look at the 2009 Rutgers football season. Its much delayed (with a house full of people this weekend) but here's a look at the penultimate week of the Big East Season . Its been a couple of days since the last Rutgers football game, a 20-14 win over Louisville, the final game of Cardinals coach Steve Kragethorpe's tenure. The details of the game are familiar now - Rutgers went out to a 28-7 lead, bogged down a bit in the second half, but came alive in the 4th... Read Full Story
