Our preview to the 2007 season.

Jonathon Stewart

File
The horsepower and speed you get from the elusive 230 pound running back who wears #28 for the Oregon Ducks showed up when he led the Nation in KR yardage averaging 33.7 yards a game. Stewart also recorded at least 140 yards rushing in 4 games early in the season, but the truth is he hasn't been able to show the country and the Autzen faithful how great he really is - injuries took it's toll last year. Stewart finished the 06' campaign producing a meager 50 yards rushing in each of the Ducks 4 losses - this mini slump near the end of the season caused"SNOOP" as they call him to just miss the 1000 yard threshold for the season. If Stewart remains healthy the entire season - many believe he can rush for 1300 yards.
Phil Steele includes Stewart on his Heisman sleeper list
Stewart hasn't said it but I'm sure he would like to hit this mark so that he can clear a spot for himself near the top of the list for Oregon running backs while leading his team to a BCS Bowl. Maybe he stays for his senior season & decides he's not ready to leave Eugene to suit up on Sundays. Who knows? - but a healthy season should put the team in a great position while fans at Autzen "WHOOP" it up for "SNOOP" The good news are the reports out of spring practice - it sounds like Duck fans will get a healthy serving of "SNOOP" in 07. Oregon's offense is one of the best in the Pac10 and fans should see the scoreboard light up when #28 is carrying the ball - 19 TD's sounds about right for "SNOOP".

One2 PUNCH
The combination of Jonathon Stewart & Jeremiah Johnson give the Ducks a nice One2 punch out of the backfield. Strength and Speed is something that makes the Ducks lethal from the RB position. Who doesn't like the thought of these speedsters behind athletically gifted Senior QB Dennis Dixon - a threat to run or pass. Defensive coordinators will have a sleepless friday night wondering if he's got the correct game plan in place for the 3 Duckies running wild on the Autzen turf.

Ref 2DUCKS VS HOUSTON COUGARS September 1st
The key to beating Art Biles Cougars is limiting the play of their multi-purpose RB Anthony Alridge who is a quck one out the backfield. Alridge returns kickoffs and can break one at any time.
The Cougars will use Alridge in different ways with runs out of the backfield, reverses from the wing, inside traps and catching the ball in open spaces - you must limit his explosion plays.
The Ducks secondary must also be ready for the Cougars talented wide receivers Jeron Harvey & Donnie Avery, both can get down field in a flash.
A healthy dose of SNOOP & Johnson should be enough to overtake the Cougars in the 2nd half.
Prediction
DUCKS WIN
42-31
