Samardo Samuels had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead surging Louisville past Radford 79-53 on Sunday. Jared Swopshire added 13 points and the Cardinals (9-3) won their fourth straight by swarming the visiting Highlanders (5-5) from the opening tip. Samuels scored nine points during a 12-0 first-half run and Louisville kept Radford center Art Parakhouski in check. Parakhouski finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Scottie Reynolds scored 22 points, Reggie Redding had 16 and No. 8 Villanova cruised in its final nonconference game, beating Delaware 97-63 on Wednesday night. The Wildcats (11-1) used a string of big baskets from Reynolds, who keyed their Final Four run last season, to turn a tighter-than-expected game into an easy win in their final tuneup for the Big East. Reserve Justin Sofman scored 18 points and Monmouth (N.J.) used a late second-half surge to beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 65-51 on Wednesday night. With the Hawks (4-9) leading 43-29 with 13:18 left, the Islanders used a 16-2 run to pull ahead 46-45 with 7:35 remaining. After the score was tied twice — the last time at 50 with 6:11 left — Monmouth closed out the game on a 15-1 spurt with Sofman scoring nine points. Chris Wright scored a career-high 34 points, Greg Monroe added 16 points and 16 rebounds, and No. 14 Georgetown used a half-ending 11-0 run to break open a tight game and beat Harvard 86-70 Wednesday, avoiding a second consecutive loss. Wright is the first Georgetown player to reach 30 in a game since Michael Sweetney scored 35 against West Virginia in January 2003. The Gaels (8-4), who extended their winning streak versus Fairleigh Dickinson to three games, have won four straight for the first time since February 2006. What a tremendous win for the program, a tournament caliber win as srr50 aptly calls it. Lose your best weapon, play a style you’re not entirely comfortable with or accustomed to, against a seasoned group of talented, well coached basketball players, and still get the W going away.
