As you all know, tonight's NCIS episode is a tad bit more special for Pauley Perrette. After an interesting time on NCIS: Los Angeles, her character goth forensic Abby will welcome her best friend, who will be played by her real-life best friend Meredith Eaton.Talking to ET, both Perrette and Eaton talked about how emotional the ride had been, and somehow, the NCIS episode is the fruition of their journey going full circle.  

Pauley Perrette works with real-life bff Meredith Eaton on this week's episode of "NCIS." The two women became close friends following the tragic death in 2006 of Meredith's husband Michael Gilden, who had played Abby's (Perrette) little person boyfriend on the hit CBS series. Gibbs' father returned tonight on "NCIS," at least in part to celebrate the holiday with his son. I don't think it terribly surprising that Gibbs' relationship with his father is a strained one. I always get the feeling that Gibbs is a little more jokey than he is serious in his gruffness with his team, but the gruffness with his old man is real. Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009"NCIS: Los Angeles" reversed a couple weeks of declining ratings on Tuesday, and CBS once again swept the night's ratings race. Elsewhere, both "The Biggest Loser" and "90210" snagged their biggest audiences since their season premiere.CBS scored 16.7 million viewers and a 10.5 rating/17 share in households for the night, once again leaving the other networks in the dust. FOX (9.5 million, 6.1/10...  

Both Mark Harmon and Rocky Carroll, who play Gibbs and Vance respectively on NCIS, agree that the success of the CBS procedural is due in large part to it being not your typical procedural."You've got to have a thick skin to work here. This is a group who likes to have fun," says Harmon, while Carroll credits the fact that the NCIS characters are three-dimensional, including their quirks and idiosyncrasies.  

On the show and in real life, that is.We previously reported that we'll meet Tony's (Michael Weatherly) daddy on the 150th episode of NCIS, airing sometime in January. This, of course, is a follow-up to the return of Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) mentor Mike Franks this week (which according to critics turned out to be quite an awesome episode).

The fact that NCIS is currently the highest rated series today apparently doesn't escape even the powers-that-be. TV Guide reports that Ray Mabus, the US Secretary of the Navy is appearing on NCIS, although he's not playing the Secretary of the Navy, but an NCIS agent. Apparently, Sec. Of course the focal point of tonight's NCIS is Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) returning mentor Mike Franks (Muse Watson). Even Ducky (David McCallum), who is normally nice and all, says he isn't comfortable with the "psychological make-up" of Franks and thinks he's lying. At first we thought it was something horrible, but later on, Ducky turns out to be right, and he is indeed lying, but the intention is something else, something we didn't quite...

There was definitely some creepy stuff going on with this case, and for the first time in weeks, the concentration of the show was strictly on the mystery. One of my favorite actresses is joining the cast of America's most watched drama series. That means about 20 million viewers a week will get to see her in action. On tonight's episode of NCIS, it's Halloween already, and a Marine known for his practical jokes is found dead on Halloween eve. During their probe, the team discovers that the victim's "good-natured" pranks may have inspired ghoulish retribution. Yes, a little message before Halloween, when the practical joke goes horribly wrong. But that won't stop the NCIS people themselves on doing pranks on each other. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that The Mentalist, in just its second season on CBS, has been sold in a syndication deal to TNT, with episodes to begin airing in the fall of 2011. TNT recently picked up Southland (after its cancellation by NBC) and also rebroadcasts episodes of many other series including Bones, Cold Case, Law & Order, Numb3rs, and Without a Trace. To be completely honest, I expected a way funnier NCIS Halloween episode. Though "Code of Conduct" was light and had nice moments - for one, Tony and Gibbs repeatedly calling Ziva "probie" - it could've been funnier. Like Abby, for instance, yes, her lab was turned into a some sort of dumping ground for all of the victim's prank paraphernalia (and she's not wearing costumes because of Vance and McGee and skinny jeans), but other than, what...  

So, let's say TV Squad wanted to have a 30-second ad on CBS' highest-rated show, NCIS. It would cost us $133,304. It would actually cost more, because we'd hire scantily-clad dancers, include a 35 pound bag of Doritios, fireworks in the shape of each writer, guest appearances from people like Tina Fey and JJ Abrams, and would have special effects because some of the commercial would be set in outer space for some reason, but I mean CBS would...

So much for those promises of peace. V destroyed the competition last night. The drama’s long-awaited arrival drew nearly 14 million viewers, making it the second most-watched series premiere of the season (behind NCIS: LA’s 18.7 million). Although NCIS grabbed the total viewers crown (19.4 million), V easily walked off with the night’s highest adult 18-49 numbers.  

CBS sold one of its new season dramas into syndication after just seven weeks on the air, which The Hollywood Reporter says might be an industry record. "NCIS: Los Angeles" was licensed by CBS TV Distribution to the USA Network, which already airs the original “NCIS.” The spinoff, which USA can air weekly beginning in September 2011, sold for about $2.5 million per episode.
