I noticed over the past year a lot of players started saying their high schools on player announcements. Maybe it's because they didn't play in college or just wanted to rep their high school a little bit. Burleson has taken it a step further and went with the elementary school shout out last night. Not sure but maybe he said it because the Lions have been playing like they're in elementary school lately. (and I'm a Lions fan saying that)

Despite possessing the most talented wide receiver in the league, the 2009 Detroit Lions’ receiving corps was a mess. Teams covet elite receivers because they force the defense to roll coverage to that receiver. This leaves all the other receivers facing single coverage which is far easier to exploit, theoretically. Unfortunately for the Lions, none of their other receivers were able to take advantage of the attention paid to CJ.
Calvin Johnson was limited to 67 receptions for 984 yards...Read Full Story
In recent seasons, former coach Mike Holmgren turned grandfatherly during the Seahawks' bye weeks. Turning 60 and already owning a Super Bowl ring, he boldly gave his players the entire week off. They'd go on far-flung vacations or just relax and heal at home with family and friends. It was wildly popular, of course, like Spring Break in October. Jim Mora is not Mike Holmgren. Demanding fewer mistakes, and downplaying that a dozen starters have been injured, the Seahawks' new coach has his...Read Full Story
Calvin Johnson is hinting at a special end zone celebration this weekend — as long as he scores a touchdown that's allowed to stand, of course. Johnson had what looked like a game-winning touchdown catch ruled incomplete last week in Chicago , a ruling that led to a lot of discussion this week about the NFL rule for completing a reception. The Detroit receiver was coy Friday when asked if he had anything planned for his team's home opener Sunday against Philadelphia . "I've thought about it...Read Full Story
Three consecutive blowout losses have the Seahawks in as bad a shape as they've been in years. The 48 points scored by the Packers on Sunday were the most Seattle had allowed since 1983. Only a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter kept the Seahawks from their worst margin of defeat in history. Yet coach Jim Mora insisted on Monday that his 5-10 team has not quit — despite losing at Houston by 27 points, to then-one-win Tampa Bay at home by 17 and at Green Bay by 38 on Sunday. "Let me just be...Read Full Story
The Detroit Lions' multitude of penalties in their Week 13 matchup against the New Orleans Saints is well documented, including three offensive pass interference penalties on wide receiver Nate Burleson. In an interview on ESPN's "NFL32" on ...
Join me, for a moment, in an alternate reality where the Seahawks made the playoffs. A reality in which Seattle found its running game earlier in the season, giving them a few more wins and a wild-card berth. Danny O’Neil, the Seattle Times’ Seahawks reporter, got me thinking with a tweet Thursday: “#Seahawks are the only team in the league with regular-season victories over two of the four teams still alive in NFL playoffs.” Indeed, the...
The Seahawks and free agent offensive lineman Breno Giacomini have agreed to a two-year contract extension after Giacomini proved to be a valuable backup on Seattle's offensive line. The Seahawks confirmed the deal on Friday. According to the NFL Players Association website, Giacomini will make $1.5 million in base salary for the 2012 season and $3 million in 2013.
The group includes regulars Nate Burleson, Stefan Logan and Maurice Stovall and practice-squad receivers Marcus Harris and Nate Hughes, among others. Logan tweeted that the group was flying out of Los Angeles via private jet today. Johnson is ...
Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson is sticking with his winning prediction, even though he made it before the team learned of its playoff opponent. Meanwhile, the defensive line prepares for Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
