RENTON -- Seahawks long-snapper Kevin Houser was sitting up in his hospital room on Monday.That counted as a step in recovery after he was belly-up on Seattle's sidelines in the third quarter of Sunday's game with a rib injury that resulted in a collapsed lung.Houser was at the hospital by the time Sunday's game ended, and is expected to remain in the hospital until at least Tuesday. The Seattle Seahawks offered a job to former coach Mike Holmgren in a "senior leadership position," but Holmgren declined the offer, the team announced Saturday.  

Wide receiver Nate Burleson is in a plastic protective boot after suffering what he confirmed during his weekly radio show on KJR (950 AM) was a high ankle sprain.Burleson suffered the injury during a punt return in the second half of Sunday's game when he said an opponent's helmet directly struck his ankle. I did my best to avoid addressing wide receiver Nate Burleson's comments regarding a victory in Arizona, but this is a Seahawks' blog and it's something people are talking about so it deserves some discussion here.In summary, Burleson appeared on "Q It Up Sports" with Aaron Levine on FOX 13. The Seattle Seahawks play the Vikings in Minnesota today at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. The 8-1 Vikings beat the Lions 27-10 last week on the strength of Brett Favre's season-high 344 passing yards, while the Seahawks fell to the Cardinals in Arizona. The Vikings are favored by 11 points against the 3-6 Seahawks.  

For the third time in three seasons, Seattle has brought in Jeff Robinson to be the Seahawks' long-snapper. Robinson was signed on Tuesday to replace Kevin Houser. Houser was placed on injured reserve after suffering a collapsed lung following the Seahawks 24-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.  

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is missing practice Tuesday to attend the funeral of former Cincinnati Bengals teammate Chris Henry. Seattle coach Jim Mora said Monday that Houshmandzadeh was on his way to Louisiana to attend the service and would return Tuesday night. Mora says Houshmandzadeh "was almost like a big brother" to Henry.  

Jim Mora has passed frustration and entered desperation in Seattle. He needs guys who swallow metal. "I'd like a whole team of nail eaters!" the coach of the 5-8 Seahawks bellowed this week, during a fist-pounding, voice-raising call for more "nastiness," more "dirtbags" on the field to combat losing -- and a league-wide perception that Seattle is soft.

Seattle coach Jim Mora said the 32-year-old veteran of 10 seasons was sitting up in his hospital room Monday and watching "Ren and Stimpy" cartoons with his wife and kids.
