The second round of the LPGA Tour Championship at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club in Texas was suspended due to darkness after rain kept play delayed until the afternoon. Only 58 of 116 players started the second round as play will resume Saturday morning. There will be a first cut made after the second round is complete, trimming the field to 70 players. After 54 holes, there will be a second cut made to bring the final round field to 30 golfers. Read Full Story

Lorena Ochoa won her first tournament since April with her successful title defense at the Navistar LPGA Classic at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Capitol Hill in Alabama. Ochoa shot 70 in the final round to finish four shots ahead of Michelle Wie and Brittany Lang. Ochoa had a rough start with a bogey on the second hole and a double-bogey on the fifth hole but, birdies on the fourth and eighth holes pulled her back to 15-under par through nine holes. One way to look at the 2009 LPGA Tour Championship is that, having been pushed back to a Monday finish, not many golf fans were paying attention. Another way to look at it is that the tournament had Monday all to itself, guaranteeing any golf news leads with the LPGA.
