Nonplussed

I am always bewildered by the stupidity of others. Specifically, I am talking about Wisteria. She is clueless but thinks she's brilliant. Amazing. One of our profs felt sorry for her last year and basically handed her a project to take the lead on. This prof is one of our best so it really was a golden opportunity for Wisteria. Any moderately intelligent human being would have taken this chance and run with it, but not Wisteria. She took the opportunity but then dropped the ball and now... Read Full Story

Oh Happy Day! (Maybe)

Well, I have finally shaken Whisper! I found out that my new assistantship assignment is to one the department's most powerful professors (who I hear is a raging bitch) and I couldn't be happier. It may be short-lived happiness if it turns out that her reputation is accurate, but for right now, I'm just thrilled to finally be done with the wanker Whisper. My new prof is not associated with my grad program but is in a leadership position within my department. My association with this professor... Read Full Story

Good Morning America

From:  lynn.edu
I just arrived back from California last night, where I have been for the past few days shooting some interviews for my thesis/creative project. Whilst I was in LA I met up with some interesting people who gave me some wonderful advice for my career search. One thing you will learn as your graduation date draws closer, your idea of what you want to be when you grow up will probably change a trillion times. I think the best mindset to have is to be accepting of a wide range of career... Read Full Story

Congratulations Turtles!

From:  lynn.edu
So Amber is officially graduated! The entire family is very proud of her. As luck would have it, she sat on one side of the stadium while we were  in the fourth row of the other side of the stadium. My mom spent the entire graduation standing on her side of the stadium just so she could get pictures of Amber walking. Poor Christopher was so bored (well, to tell the truth, so was I, but I have more practice at acting interested. I wonder how differently I’ll look at a graduation when... Read Full Story

Diary of a mad grad. student

From:  lynn.edu
Dear Diary, (sigh) where to begin… For those of you who are about to start Graduate School, this is a post for you. I never thought that I would do my masters, and as my undergraduate degree came to an end earlier than expected, I decided that the best option would be to work as a graduate assistant and continue my education. I am so very happy I did, and I highly recommend that even if you are doubting which path you should take, continue with school - an education is something no one... Read Full Story

Question from a new grad:

From:  lynn.edu
I received a question from a new graduate student at Lynn. It is as follows: Today at 1:04pm Message: From Brad “I just started grad school at Lynn for Communications & Media, do you have any advice? thanks! Brad” Ashlea Evans Today at 1:16pm “Hi Brad, I recommend that if you are considering doing a thesis or creative project, that you start right now. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it. Choose a topic you are passionate about and would enjoy dedicating a lot of time to... Read Full Story

Baby Bella

Finally it seems that I've convinced Andi to convince her Mom to meet me about 5-6 hours north of my town to pick up precious baby Bella. I guess I did such a good job convincing that Andi has decided that she has no time or patience for Bella right now and therefore has dropped her by my apartment here in glamorous-city-by-the-sea (GCBTS) so that I can care for her until we leave on Friday night. Poor Bella. She is such a sweet, gentle, lovable soul that just loves and loves more. She... Read Full Story

The Blog Squad

From:  lynn.edu
When I first agreed to become a Lynn blogger, I never ever thought that one day I would be the administrator of the Blog Squad, neither did I have any idea of how successful the blogs would be. Yesterday evening, the Blog Squad and two new bloggers we will be bringing on next semester and over the summer, congregated for a pizza evening. Every meeting we discuss if everyone is still enjoying blogging and whether they would like to continue (every one said yes) and we also discuss video... Read Full Story

High Anxiety

Precious Princess had to be rushed to the emergency veterinarian yesterday morning due to her having extremely bloodshot eyes. She seemed okay otherwise but I could tell that her eyes were bothering her and I know from past experience that, when the whites of both eyes are extremely red, this is usually an indication that something serious is going on. They did the most thorough exam and drew blood to run more tests but we won't have the results until Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime... Read Full Story

Graduation Speakers

From:  lynn.edu
One aspect of the Graduation Ceremony that made it such a special and memorable occasion, was the words of advice and encouragement from our student commencement speakers, Taryn Hamil and Jena Zakany. Taryn Hamil, who earned her degree in Business, addressed the undergraduate students, whilst Jena Zakany, a College of International Communication major put her masters degree to practice, in addressing the graduate students. Both of them did a fantastic job! You can actually watch their... Read Full Story
