Sony Ericsson X2 unboxing video (plus alleged pics of the X3)

Ooh, a couple of bits of possibly exciting news (well, one’s definitely exciting, the other, er, might not be) for all Sony Ericsson fans today. Hmmm, I vote we start with the one that might not be.

Y’see, some photos have appeared on Mobile Nova (sorry for the link being in German), which claim to be live shots of the rumoured Sony Ericsson X3, the Swedish/Japanese manufacturer’s first Android phone. I say ‘claim to be’, because, well, I’m not at all convinced they’re kosher. Take a look at the photo on this blog post, and see if you spot what I have.

What I’m seeing is evidence that it’s been photoshopped, and the phone’s composited in. Oh, and the lighting on the phone appears to be slightly to one side, whereas on the box, it’s straight on, from a camera’s flash. The problem gets worse when you look at the other pics of the white one, where the exact same image of the box has been used, and the image of the phone has been rotated, before being composited again.

Of course, it’s always possible the pics of the black phone could be genuine, but one has to wonder how genuine they actually are, considering the pics of the white one are blatantly photoshopped (and they haven’t even been photoshopped very well).

So, the jury’s out on that one, but to me, the white phone in those “live photos” definitely looks as though it’s been tacked on after the fact…

So, with that bit of possibly disappointing news out of the way, let’s move on to the genuine and actually exciting bit of Sony Ericsson news that’s appeared online, this time, on the pages of The Unwired. Yep, it’s an unboxing video of the Sony Ericsson X2, in the flesh, so now we can get a better idea of how big it is, how nicely it sits in the hand and so on (be patient, though, ‘cos it takes an age to buffer).

Also, we get to see how nice the new design is (hint: very), and how much sexier it looks with the screen flush to the front of the phone (hint: much, much more).

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, one day, Sony Ericsson X2. One day, you shall be mine…
