Like most Mets fans, I hate Mr. Minaya and can't wait until his reign of terror is done. I hate Omar so much, even if the Mets win the World Series in 2010 I will still hate that man. But that doesn't take away the fact that he has my dream job, being the General manager of the New York Mets. This will be a slideshow that will focus on every position, who should start that position and what the Mets have done so far and what they need to do...  

It appears that Pedro Martinez won't be making a trip back to Big Apple after all. After numerous reports that the Mets were interested in the veteran, who pitched for the team from 2005-2008, Anthony DiComo of MLBlogs is reporting that Mets officials have denied having any interest in resigning Martinez. This was the debate on WFAN radio in New York yesterday, and nearly everyone was leaning in favor of Bay. The discussion occurred on Miked Up , a show hosted by Mike Francesa that can also be seen on the YES network in the afternoon. I mention Francesa because he's one of the better-respected sports radio men in the business, and yet I found myself completely disagreeing with him; a phenomenon which is not at all uncommon for me.  Francesa...  

As a fan, I’m a believer. For this reason, I have been stressing that Mets fans should not overreact to what has happened since the playoff run in 2006. The Mets collapsed in September two years in a row, then in mid-June the next, but the fact of the matter is, they still retain one of the strongest and most talented cores in baseball with David Wright, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and Johan Santana. Before they became a dysfunctional, injury-ridden 92-loss laughingstock, the New York Mets were actually not a bad team. Sure they had two consecutive meltdowns, one of colossal proportion, yet leaving room for hope until the bitter end, game No. 162. It seems like ages ago, but the Mets were arguably the best team in baseball three short years ago, and fell a Carlos Beltran gapper short of a World Series berth. Also, remember that that team...  

With recent talk that the Mets may not be spending on a top tier free agent, many Mets fans have begun speculating which second tier free agents or trade targets may be a fit. With this in mind, I have come up with a four-part off-season plan that would make fantasy baseball players, as well as Jerome-From-Manhattan-type WFAN callers proud. I don't know what Minaya's budget is going to be (and honestly, neither do you), but with contracts...

Last week in Indianapolis, an offer was made hours before the end of the week long session to Jason Bay. He has not yet accepted Omar Minaya's offer and its becoming more likely that he will not be on the Mets in 2010. In 2009, the Mets sent nine men to play in left field, but Gary Sheffield was by far the most reliable for much of the season.
