Saturday, January 31

And don’t let the door hit ya on the way out, January! Those hankering for one last hit of culture before succumbing to February’s clammy excess of models and deejays and model-deejays and heiress-model-deejays (unfortunately, the economy hasn’t extincted any of them yet, they’ve just been in hibernation), flock to the Kitchen (that would be the theater, not the dingy, closet-size alcove where you store your Christmas mugs and summer pumps) for closing night of The Shipment, whose writer, Young Jean Lee, has attempted “to make, as a Korean-American, a black identity-politics show,” informs a helpful press release. She “takes the audience on an awkward and volatile roller-coaster ride through the absurdities and atrocities that arise when trying to discuss the black experience in America.”

[The Shipment, at the Kitchen, 512 West 19th Street, 8 p.m., 212-255-5793]
