Nicholas Markowitz
Nicholas Markowitz was kidnapped and murdered in August of 2000 over money owed to drug dealer Jesse James Hollywood. The crime became the basis for the 2007 movie "Alpha Dog."
Jesse James Hollywood -- Alpha Dog Found Guilty of Murder
The 2007 movie "Alpha Dog" was loosely based on the Markowitz murder. Hollywood's defense argued (unsuccessfully) that the popular movie tainted the testimony of witnesses and may have influenced the jury verdict.
Hollywood's sentence is pending - the death penalty is still a possibility.
