Regardless of what happened after the success of 'Clerks', you had to respect Kevin Smith for following his dream by maxing out 10 credit cards and loaning money from friends just to make this movie. The total budget was an incredibly modest $27,575 and was largely filmed in the convenience store where Smith worked but at night when it was closed.
