“I didn’t do anything wrong.” —Frank, Pusher
In the alternate moral universe of the Pusher trilogy, a micro-epic docudrama about the Copenhagen drug scene from Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, Frank (Kim Bodnia), the lowly dope dealer in the series’ first entry, is correct: He didn’t do anything wrong. Throughout the trilogy, Refn focuses acutely on various minor or semi-major players in the drug trade without broadening his scope to the...

You could say that the mark of a good film maker is that they give you want you want. And if that is true then I suggest that the mark of a great film maker is that they give you what you want while also giving you something completely different. And this is the case with Nicolas Winding Refn and Valhalla Rising. Now seven films into his career Refn continues ... not to change, exactly, but to continue finding new facets of himself and his...

I do think that the choice of Keanu Reeves to play the legendary Doctor Jekyll from the Jekyll and Hyde stories in Nicolas Winding Refn's new film is a bit of a stretch, and it does feel more like a studio requirement than anything, but speaking about the casting Refn sounds rather more positive. In fact it sounds like he's positively intrigued by the idea and that that casting Reeves in Jekyll was probably far from a studio choice....Visit...
