Nigeria shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, Niger in the north, and borders the Gulf of Guinea in the south. Since 1991, its capital has been the centrally-located city of Abuja ; previously, the Nigerian government was headquartered in Lagos.
If there was any refreshing relief the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja offered its residents and visitors, it was the atmosphere of order and calmness, which was lacking in Lagos, the former capital of the country. So scenes of traffic jams in the new city are giving concern to people.

A court in The Hague has ruled that it has the jurisdiction to try a case brought against Shell Nigeria by Friends of the Earth Netherlands (Mileudefensie).
The Dutch environmental organisation and four Nigerians took Shell and its subsidiary Shell Nigeria to court for polluting the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Shell disputed whether or not the court had the authority to hear the case. The company has now accepted that it has.
