Nikon D3000 is Nikon beginner / entry level camera. It replaces Nikon D60. There are three major upgrade of D3000 from D60. There are 11 Auto focus system with dynamic tracking and 3D tracking. Previous reviews haven't been all smiles, but we're finally able to pick up Nikon's Coolpix S70 and see for ourselves. On form factor alone, it's a pretty alluring build -- even the faux leather front is tastefully done. While the tap-to-focus feature is a nice addition, we're less enthused about the OLED screen's viewing angles when outside -- and seeing as we've go no other way to see the memories we're framing, that's pretty disappointing...

Image resolution is unchanged at twelve effective megapixels, but the CMOS image sensor and EXPEED image processor are both new designs. Nikon's Coolpix S70 promised to be a point and shoot built with a love reserved for high end smartphones—very thin, and packing a 3.5-inch OLED multitouch screen. Alas, Nikon forgot about one, tiny detail, the photography itself. According to Photography Blog's early review, the $300ish S70's somewhat low resolution OLED wasn't found to be much better than an LCD for viewing images, especially in direct sunlight when it's still not bright...

The setup looked ingenious. Using a series of photos and the projectors on a bunch of those quirky Nikon Coolpix S1000pj projector cameras, these two tots looked to be recreating a Daft Punk music video. Then they started dancing. It was awkward to say the least, but as I said the ingenuity was there. A for effort, and all that, but I would have lost the cheerleaders during the "costume change." I was about to say they looked out of place...

Why does my version of Photoshop open the Nikon D700 images I have stored but not the D90 images? I am currently using Photoshop CS4 (v 11.0 ) with an iMac (OS 10.6.1). Ok, I'm going to go differently from the others. I think that if you can afford the D5000, it's a superior camera on several levels. The big reason is the sensor. The D5000's sensor is the same sensor as is in the D300 and D90. It's a known winner. The D60's sensor is a generation behind and the same as the D40x and D80. While the D60's sensor isn't bad, it's nowhere as nice as the D5000. You get much better low light (high ISO) performance...
