Filed under: Packers , Vikings , NFC North , NFL Gambling It should be noted that these aren’t “bounties” in the sense that you might think. When I think of the word “bounty”, I think of guys throwing out offers of monetary payments in exchange for certain players getting injured. That’s not what happened here. Yet, in a way, the Green Bay Packers are accused of offering up bounties. Another term that you could use is “player bonuses”. Basically, ESPN started this train on Sunday morning by reporting that Packer defensive backs offered monetary incentives to the defensive linemen if they could hold Vikings ... Read Full Story

Running back Noah Herron has signed with the Cleveland Browns, who lost Jason Wright to free agency earlier this week. The 26-year-old Herron was drafted by Pittsburgh in the seventh round in 2005. He has rushed for 273 yards, caught 29 passes for 211 yards and scored five touchdowns in 23 career games with Green Bay and Tampa Bay. The 5-foot-11, 225-pounder could fill Wright's role as a part-time back behind Jamal Lewis. Wright signed a two-year contract with Arizona on Tuesday. Coincidentally, Wright and Herron were teammates at Northwestern. Herron played 16 games for the Packers in 2006. He spent all of 2007 ... Read Full Story

Filed under: Packers , NFC North The Green Bay Packers will look to start their regular season with a win today against the Philadelphia Eagles. In order to come away with a victory, they need to do a variety of things. I’ve compiled a list of three keys that will make or break the game for them. Key Number One : Establish the run. I realize that’s a key to victory for all NFL teams, but it is especially vital to the Packers. With Ahman Green now in Houston, and the unit suffering a ton of injuries, it’s imperative to their success that they ... Read Full Story

Filed under: Packers , Seahawks , Seattle Just an hour before kickoff of today’s Green Bay Packers-Seattle Seahawks divisional round playoff game, temperatures are in the 20s and snow is falling at Lambeau Field. But no more than an inch of snow is expected to accumulate on the Frozen Tundra, and it doesn’t appear that we’ll be in for a blizzard of a game. After pregame warmups, Fox reported that players who took the field said they think it’s in great shape. If the snow turns out to be worse than expected, though, that should favor the home team. In weather that requires a ... Read Full Story

Filed under: Bears , Packers , NFC North , Chicago , Milwaukee In my preview of the Sunday night match up between Chicago and Green Bay, I surmised that the Bears would be out of the division and playoff race if they lost to the Packers. Looks like they won’t have to worry about that just yet. Chicago rallied from down 17-7 at halftime to win 27-20 . The final six possessions for the Bears resulted in the following: touchdown, punt, field goal, interception, punt, touchdown. The final six possessions for the Packers ended with two interceptions (one on a hail mary) sandwiched by ... Read Full Story

If Mike McCarthy was feeling the heat after the Green Bay Packers lost to Tampa Bay in Week Nine, then he has certainly been taking the necessary steps to cool down his critics. The offense seemed to be firing on all cylinders against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. Not only did the Packers enter halftime with a 20-point lead, but they also ate up slightly over two-thirds of clock time (41:39). Clearly, they were in control of...

No one knows what head coach Mike McCarthy will say at his Thanksgiving Day dinner table, but you can bet that Charles Woodson and Donald Driver will be on his short list.  The two veterans feasted on the young Detroit Lions Thursday as the Packers won their third straight game, 34-12 at Ford Field. It was the same story for the Packers once again, who used Driver and Woodson on both ends of the field to lead their team to victory. For...
