Iconic fashion designer Norma Kamali was among the celebrating graduates at the Fashion Institute of Technology's commencement ceremony on Tuesday—in a sense. The inventor of the sleeping-bag coat and the high-heeled sneaker earned her first FIT diploma in 1964, but was awarded an honorary doctorate in fine arts this week.
