Colombian Drug Lord In Panama Running From Assassins

By Rafael Luna Noguera for La Prensa - The supposed Colombian drug trafficker William Tamayo who was arrested in Obarrio last Thursday was in Panama trying to keep from being killed as part of a "settling of accounts" by the famous network of assassins known as Los Machos, loyal to the drug trafficker Wilber Varela, alias Jabón, who was killed in January of this year in Venezuela. This, according to sources in the Direction of Criminal Investigation (DIJIN) of the Colombian Police, who told La Prensa that in addition as part of his efforts to avoid the assassins Tamayo also recently entered Venezuela. According to the investigators of the DIJIN, the three allies of Tamayo are in the same situation and therefore would also be in Panama, and therefore they informed local authorities. In as much, a local police source in Panama said Tamayo obtained local documents in an attempt to change his identity. Three days before his arrest Tamayo met with Panamanians, Colombians and Venezuelans, who are now being investigated. The source detailed that Tamayo - who has not spoken to Panamanian authorities - was captured thanks to the information provided by the DIJIN. He is wanted in both Colombia and the United States for drug trafficking and murder.
