While we have a British Governor, this territory has up until now been governed independently by the Turks Islanders with an independent constitution. Former Premier Michael Misick (who according to the NY Times is still running things behind the scenes) is still attempting to block UK takeover of this government, and several big real estate developers who were named in the inquiry are trying to keep their names out of the report.
