We are a Northern Ireland Residents Association In east Belfast working to bring change in laws to protect our buildings Heritage and also working for the rights of Disabled people to live on any floor of an apartment block by trying to get planners and developers to install lifts into all new build apartments and end social exclusion

Here's a summary of Bristol's progress to date. I hope this will encourage efforts around the country. It's November 2009 and Bristol has taken another step towards being a 20mph City. Earlier this year the City Council proposed two pilot 20mph areas comprising about 8% of the urban area. The initial proposals excluded roads where the speed limit would really make a difference and mainly included narrow residential streets where speeds are already low. The Palmerston Residents Association say thank you to Northern Ireland Railways in agreeing to let the association erect one of their community notice boards at Sydenham Station Halt, and also to the association taking care of the station. The Residents Association have always been keen to look after Sydenham Station as we feel it is the shop window to Sydenham, we want to show our visitors that Sydenham is a pleasant place to live and a nice place to visit. This is the access driveway that leads up to the new development at Ashfield Girls High School. The access driveway is used by Ashfield Boys High School you can see by our photo that it is marked as a crossing, it has no traffic lights just small sign to warn drivers that it is a crossing. The Residents Association ask the developers and the Education Board to think again and ask them to install a temporary pelican crossing with flashing lights to warn van and lorry drivers that they are approaching a school crossing.
