PITTSBURGH -- The game against an unranked opponent falls right before No. 8 Pitt plays arch-rival West Virginia followed by perhaps the biggest of this season's Big East showdowns -- against No. 5 Cincinnati.  

Notre Dame is a shell of its former self. Sure they have a stud quarterback that can put points on the board with the best of them. But the tradition in South Bend is fading faster than the value of the dollar. It isn't prestigious to go to Notre Dame anymore. As the Fighting Irish wrap up another disappointing season; the status of Charlie Weis continually is questioned. If he were to be fired, Cincinnati's Brian Kelly and ESPN's Jon Gruden...

SOUTH BEND -- It was beyond schematic deficiencies. It was beyond two uncharacteristic and costly fumbles. It was beyond a pass that bounced off the back of a star receiver and into the hands of a defender. It was beyond two missed field goals. It was a dreadful lack of passion.  

Last weekend was the toughest weekend for Notre Dame fans all season. The loss to Navy hurt. The way they lost made it really hurt. They played flat and really beat themselves. In the other two losses to Michigan and USC, I thought the Irish fought hard and played great football and just came up a bit short. The Navy game was totally different. The Midshipmen looked like they wanted it more. Notre Dame really beat themselves in alot of ways...  

According to sources close to Jack Swarbrick, the Notre Dame Athletic Director said, "Anyone who has said Charlies Weis will not be our football coach next year is being irresponsible and does not have the facts. Charlies Weis has a contract than runs until 2015 and Notre Dame has every intention of honoring that contract."
