MORE ELECTION PREDICTIONS FOR TOMORROW'S VOTE IN NOVA SCOTIA

PH1819 has already gone on record as saying the NDP majority come Tuesday night will be a very strong majority, indeed. With 32 seats predicted for Darrell Dexter's New Democrats, the Liberals and PCs will split the other 20 almost evenly (11 Grit, 9 Tory). However, the story of an election campaign runs far deeper than the seat total at the end. Read on for PH1819's predictions as they relate to a few theories that have been popping up over the last few days.
-----
NDP Sweep Of Metro Halifax - FALSE: With all but four Halifax seats at dissolution and plenty of momentum, it seems likely that Dexter's team could take hold of all 17. PH1819 doesn't believe it'll happen, though. Bedford could swing from Len Goucher to Liberal instead of the NDP, for example. Diana Whalen could hang on and hold off Linda Power in Clayton Park. One way or another, PH1819 goes on record: the NDP will not sweep metro Halifax.
Rodney MacDonald Loses Inverness - FALSE: Attribute this fact to either a lack of funds or an increase in fear and paranoia, but the Premier was in his own riding of Inverness on Sunday..... and wasn't leaving. Apparently the locals have been impressed by his young opponent from the New Democrats. Obviously the province has turned against Mr. MacDonald. But will he lose his seat? PH1819 says no.
Some Liberal Incumbents Will Lose - TRUE: Whither the Liberal momentum? As voters sway/swing/pull/run away from the Progressive Conservatives in Nova Scotia, isn't the Liberal party supposed to be the beneficiary? Not this year, my son. Stephen McNeil ain't Francis MacKenzie - thankfully - and he'll manage rather easily to hold his own riding. For those of you who hadn't noticed, some members of the Liberal caucus over the last three years were true seat-fillers. Rather fortuitously, the Liberals will pick up some seats elsewhere to make up for a couple incumbents who get the boot. Nonetheless, some Grit incumbents will lose.
Ernie Fage Will Win Cumberland North - FALSE: The trouble for Mr. Fage revolves around his law-breaking activity far more than any perceived conflict-of-interest issues while Minister of Economic Development. We hold our politicians to standards we don't expect our friends to meet, and in conservative northern Nova Scotia, an independent Fage - though tremendously popular not too long ago - stands no chance of holding his seat. Splitting the vote with the PC party's own candidate won't help. Possessing no motivation to participate in Question Period hurts; smoking on Granville Street while the NDP and Liberals wind up is downright harmful. A pension is thine, Mr. Fage. He will not be the next MLA for Cumberland North.
Voter Turnout Will Increase - TRUE: Some would argue that voter turnout has nowhere to go but up. On the other hand, voter turnout has been trending downward. 61% of eligible voters showed up in 2006. Thanks be to an appetite for a new government or D250 or Darrell Dexter's good looks and charm; voters will turn out in greater numbers tomorrow. 18 degrees and sunshine should help.
