Wild Day Finishes Cardinals’ 2010 Draft

By Cartman on  From cardinalsgab.com
Arizona certainly had an eventful final day of the 2010 NFL draft.  During rounds four through seven, the Cards drafted a DE that blew out his ACL, traded their starting CB to draft a quarterback, drafted a CB that was academically ineligible to play in 2009, and wrapped things up by drafting a TE that tore his ACL, MCL, LCL and hamstring; yikes. It’s not nearly as bad as all that sounds.  On the contrary, it was actually a great draft for the Cards overall.  First, the Cardinals are...Read Full Story

LBs Coming, Going, and Making Comebacks

By Cartman on  From cardinalsgab.com
The Cards signed former Cleveland Browns' draft pick LB Alex Hall, releasing Cyril Obiozor in the process Arizona signed Alex Hall , a seventh-round pick of Cleveland in 2008, to provide some depth at outside linebacker.  Hall, 6′5″, 250 lbs., had a very active off-season.  He was part of a multi-player-and-pick trade between the Browns and Eagles, the Eagles cut him before camp, he signed with the Giants, and then was cut before the season.  Now, he’s a Cardinal. The Cards released Cyril...Read Full Story

Rookie O’Brien Schofield Continues Knee Rehab

By Cartman on  From cardinalsgab.com
2010 fourth round pick, OLB O’Brien Schofield’s recovery after shredding his knee is apparently going swimmingly.  Well, it’s more running in water than swimming.  The former Wisconsin Badger spends each day inching closer towards the playing field by putting in time in the weight room, film room, and as you can see, the Hydro Track, which is a water tank with a treadmill at the bottom. Thankfully the Cardinals have a dearth of bodies to place at OLB, unlike ILB.  According to the...Read Full Story

Cards Trade Down for DE O’Brien Schofield, Grab Extra 6th Round Pick from the Saints

By Cartman on  From cardinalsgab.com
The Cards selected  DE O’Brien Schofield from Wisconsin with the 130th pick of Round 4 after trading down 7 spots, which will net them an extra 6th round pick from New Orleans (201st overall).  Schofield slipped a little in the draft, presumably because he injured his knee during Senior Bowl practice.  Apparently that doesn’t scare the Cardinals.  Here’s the CBSsports.com scouting report, once again: Read & React : Very good nose for the ball playing near the line or in space. Plays faster...Read Full Story
Arizona Cardinals LB O'Brien Schofield is ready for his first full offseason, as he heads into his third NFL season in 2012. In 2010, he tore up his knee in January, costing him the summer with his new team, and then in 2011, the lockout cost him valuable ...

It would be easy to dismiss O'Brien Schofield's consecutive sacks in the fourth quarter last week against the Browns as a case of the young Cardinals outside linebacker being in the right place at the right time.

Despite the development of both O'Brien Schofield and Sam Acho, you really can never have enough players who can rush the passer. Plus, all teams need depth and young talent to develop. One position the Arizona Cardinals will likely try to address in the ...
