A community portal about Oceanic Flight 815 with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Oceanic Airlines Flight 815, also known as Flight 815, was a fictional airline flight and crash from the television series Lost. Originally a trans-Pacific flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, California, the Oceanic Airlines plane suffered several instrument failures during the flight. These failures prompted the pilots to attempt to land in Fiji, taking the plane 1,000 miles off course at the time of the crash. En route to Fiji, the plane sharply nose-dived and tore apart in midair breaking into three pieces which fell onto a mysterious Pacific Island on September 22, 2004.
LOST in Fiji
It may be a holiday for some people, but “LOST” was hard at work today bringing the South Pacific to Honolulu. Kewalo Basin, the small commercial harbor in Kaka’ako, was transformed into the Port of Suva, Fiji’s largest port and gateway to its capital city. It was hard to miss the huge “PORT OF SUVA” signs added to the old Kewalo Shipyard building.
The freighter Kahana was docked, and a thatched-roof pavilion and Fijian tour bus stood by.
Is this Naomi’s freighter? Even though she said the wreckage of Oceanic Flight 815 had been discovered in an ocean trench off Bali, the pilot had said he had turned back and was attempting to reach Fiji when the plane broke up over The Island. Or could it be another ship, and another time? Who ends up in Fiji, and when?
All the answers will come in due time. But whoever is on board, I’m sure he’ll make a splash.
Check out the rest of the photos here.
On a purely trivial note, I must admit, I’m curious as to whether Kahana be the name of this ship in the show. Will its home port of Honolulu, Hawaii be a very special shoutout? Hard to say. The name does appear to be painted over an older name, but no doubt these vessels can change hands several times. And the ship’s real home port may have to be displayed on the stern by regulation.
As long as it doesn’t turn up on screen as the S.S. Minnow, I’m happy.
