NFL Suspends Odell Thurman Indefinitely

The NFL has suspended linebacker Odell Thurman, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals, indefinitely. This judgment was handed down Friday by the league.
Thurman, a second-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, was suspended for the first four games during the 2006 season because he skipped a drug test. Then following an arrest for a DUI that September, his suspension was extended to a full season. Then in June of 2007, Thurman was accused of assaulting two men in Georgia.
The indefinite suspension comes from being suspended for three consecutive seasons, stemming from substance abuse which the league has no tolerance for. Thurman was just reinstated by the league this offseason and returned to camp with the Bengals. After missing three voluntary camps, the Bengals cut Thurman.
Aside from his troubles with the substance abuse policy, Thurman was a pretty good linebacker. His rookie season he racked up 148 tackles and had more interceptions and fumbles then any other rookie in the league that year with 5 and 4 respectively.
