Okcupid is a fun place to take quizzes, meet people, and learn more about yourself.

-Phantomslimbo

OkCupid has so many great tests...they are fun, created by people just like you, and best of all you get to rate them,so that people can make changes. It's always nice to be able to make a change. Even if its just a little one.

-Cocomunkie (on both)

On OKCupid, you can learn a lot about yourself while you search for a match. It's great! :D

OKCupid is a good reminder that finding love should be FUN!

OKCupid is my most secret thing I'm willing to admit... that I like online tests...

-whereiseljefe

I love OKCupid.. especially since I met someone very special recently :)

-pinktequila

OkCupid has some fun tests and quizzes to get to know yourself better, and know about other people! ;)

-robawts

At least on OKCupid, I don't have to pay $20 a month (or more) to be rejected or ignored by women. On the other hand, being free encourages others to well, jerk you around more.

- DiscoJer (here and there)

OKCupid hasn't led me to love yet, but it helped me to make some really good friends when I moved to a new city. Plus, it's amazing for killing time.

-chemfreak

OKCupid is a cool place to just be yourself free to tell the truth take brutally honest test and meet really cool people who like the same things you do.

~starter_88~

I like the tests, although I wonder about some of the demented minds that devise them. So far the matching has been hopeless for me, so I've given up on that aspect of it. But I have chatted with people from all over the world, which is uber-cool!

It's a totally free matching service. It's also extremely accurate, as long as (a) you're honest, and (b) you know what you want. We don't claim to evaluate you perfectly, but we do claim to find someone who claims to fulfill your claimed requirements, exactly. We firmly believe that most matching sites are just personals services; their "matching" systems are nonexistent or overly subjective.

While we have a small team here, we all take math (and all that math implies) very seriously. OkCupid is a fun project for us for a variety of reasons, only one of which is the actual content. We aim to be the best matching service on every front: superior technology, better math, better psychology. And of course, it's free, unlike all the others.

I've been using OkCupid since April of 2006 (on the service, I'm WhigBrew ).  Recently, MyPoints offered me 100 points to do an eHarmony personality profile, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  After taking quite a while - as I knew from previous experience it would - it told me I was one of the 1 in 5 people regarding whom they decided it would be better to turn down than offer their services.  There are two reasons for this, both of which don't apply to OkCupid:  Accuracy , and - a derivative - marketing .  Certain types of people are likely ... Here is a saying which has been overdone these days: "Live your life in the moment".I came across a nice take on this saying, which gives it a different and beautiful dimension altogether. People across the spectrum have had their share of people, familial or romantic ones, good and bad ones, bitter and worse ones, which have left us question the very basics of human bonding and relationships. Are they good or bad?Is they even worth the pain?DO I deserve it? The problem can be that the person is bad.But most of the times we are reluctant to realize or to concede that some error is on our ... Read Full Story

I recently found this pic on flickr. I have decided to use it as the logo in my profile. This picture is just so special to me.It signifies unity, oneness. The couple in the picture signifies(for me) coming together of two people, leaving apart their differences, prejudice, insecurities, apprehensions, egos and becoming one. This is the first step towards realizing HIM. When two bodies intertwine together and it's impossible to say which one is which;when their souls converge and lose their individuality and experience singularity, that's the first step towards salvation. For me sex is spiritual,it's divine,it's sacred. That's the closest a human can get to another. When you love someone, you love ... Read Full Story

Interesting ways people have found my blog... Some of these inquiries make me feel bad, because what they're searching for isn't actually in here. So let's take a second to answer some of your questions, shall we? 6 month anniversary email I'd normally start it out with how you felt when you two first met, and end it with how far you've come. Sprinkle in a few good times you've had, and sign it with your pet name. Works every time. p.s. Why are you writing her an email for Christ's sakes? Take her out to dinner or something. something cute for 6 month ... Read Full Story

I'm not exactly an expert on internet dating. However, I have been around the virtual block, have had a gaggle of bad experiences, and have generally learned what not to do. I was thinking about annotating the top ten tips list, but I thought I'd just respond to them in a blog entry here. Since no one else is posting, and they did come through with my 200 points, and I feel I should do something more to earn them: # Fill out your profile completely. This is true. However, based on my experience, you don't want to write too much, either. There's too ... Read Full Story

I was in university in oklahoma and there were not a lot of guys to date within my faith. the closest large city was dallas tx, about three and a half hours away. As an English teacher in Houston, I didn't have the opportunity to meet many eligible guys. Most coaches and all students did not qualify. So, when my good friend recommended that I go out with a former college buddy of her husband, I agreed. Chris was a computer hardware engineer. He was reasonably attractive, articulate, and available. What more could I ask? We had only dated about a month when Valentine's Day arrived. Chris showed up with roses and chocolate, which I appreciated. Too bad that wasn't the end of the gifts. For dinner, we went to my favorite upscale Chinese restaurant. When assorted ... Here's what we'd love to see on OkCupid:

  • [enter feature requests here]
  • ???
  • Maybe a little more interactivity wouldn't hurt, something nice and enjoyable game or whatever :P
  • The ability to block the journals of users who you don't like on the front page.  Or at least the ability to filter that and the new "Possible matches" on the front page by martial status and age. Seriously - the demographics of the site skew extremely young (lots of 20-21 year olds) and those are not really appropriate matches for middle aged people. (I guess unless you are a celebrity or millionaire)

The online dating site OKCupid has a blog where they post analyses of the tons of data they collect, and it's really fascinating. For instance the attractiveness of woman on OKCupid, as judged by the men on OKCupid, is a symmetrical bell curve. In other words, half the women are better-than-medium looking and half are worse-than-medium looking. But OKCupid's women rate 80% of OKCupid's guys as worse-than-medium looking! Even more interesting...

Every few weeks Internet dating site OkCupid uses the power of anonymized data to share a few truths about the online dating scene and human nature in general. To be sure, these reports are often highly controversial and aren't going to be showing up in scientific literature any time soon, but they're generally interesting (and often amusing) reads. The latest report to come out addresses 'Your Looks And Your Inbox', charting the number of...

But this survey conducted by dating site OKCupid — which analyzed over 500,000 first messages exchanged between users — shows some interesting trends about getting your nerd on as a first impression.
