According to Wikipedia.org: Oktoberfest is a two-week festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September and early October. It is one of the most famous events in the city and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. Other cities across the world also hold fairs, modeled after the Munich event, also called Oktoberfest.

The 176th Oktoberfest started on Saturday the 19th, kicked off by Munich Mayor Christian Ude, tapping the first keg with a cry of "O'zapft is!". With predictions of over 6 million visitors heading to Munich, the festival runs until October 4th. This year, a traditional liter of beer will cost visitors about 8 euros (11.75 dollars). Oktoberfest beer festival Munich’s annual beer festival began on Saturday, hours before voters go to the polls in Germany’s general election. This year’s Oktoberfest, the 176th, sees the price of a traditional litre mug up by 30 cents to between 8.10 and 8.60 euros. Munich’s Social Democrat mayor Christian Ude launched the two-week festival by broaching the first barrel of beer on the stroke of midday, following the tradition begun in 1810. The heritage festival celebrates German culture with traditional music and dancing, yummy food and my favorite, German beer. The Mt.
