Olympic badminton is participated in by men and women, in singles or teams of two. There is a single-elimination tournament.

Each match is played to the best of three games, and games go up to 21 points. Rally scoring is used, which means the team or person does not need to serve to score.

A player or team must win by two points, or be the first player or team to 30 points.

Badminton made its Olympic debut in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Since then, 50 different nations have competed.
